A change of perspective

Garden design in Long Crendon. We planned this garden to make the best use of the space, whilst retaining an old apple tree that added character and shade to part of the garden. The existing patio need to be replaced and the owners wanted a fresh and new garden design. We were asked to design a garden that maximised what was a relatively modest sized garden.

DESIGN SOLUTION

This garden design in Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire catered for all the family and included:

  • play equipment attached to a large apple tree
  • dining area under the shade of the apple tree
  • new lounge area with space for the BBQ – positioned to soak up the sun
  • terrace including informal seating to catch the morning sun
  • Use of decking and stone to create an interesting and luxurious feeling to the space
  • addition of 2 tall cherry trees to be in keeping with the existing apple tree and obscure the houses on either side
  • A water feature against the boundary wall and near the dining area creating gentle sound and movement

The overall design was tilted on a diagonal axis to make the garden feel bigger and create a focal point in one corner where a statue was placed. The owners were excited by the change of perspective that the new garden layout provided
